He was born in around 545 B. C. in the State of Qi. At the end of the sixth century B.C., Sun was recommended to the King of the State of Wu by Wu Zixu, a general of the State of Wu. 

He wrote The Art of War, a Chinese military masterpiece. It is made up of thirteen chapters and each chapter covers one aspect of warfare. It is said to be the most important work on military strategies of its time and still one of the basic texts. It greatly influenced Eastern military thinking, business management and so on.
